Registered in Luxembourg as an association sans but lucratif (asbl), the Luxembourg Academy of Sciences and Arts (LASA) is an independent scholarly association connecting science, technology, the arts, humanities and education.

LASA brings together scholars, researchers, artists, educators and institutions across Europe and the wider world. Through academic and cultural activities, Academy Perspectives, Registered Research Initiatives, an invitation-based international membership community and clearly defined institutional cooperation, it advances interdisciplinary exchange and responsible knowledge communication.

Guided by academic integrity, openness and respect for diverse intellectual and cultural traditions, LASA seeks to support emerging talent and contribute to thoughtful dialogue at the intersection of knowledge, creativity and society.

Afsheen Raza Recognised at the 2026 MENA Congress for Rare Diseases

Afsheen Raza, LASA Foreign Member, received the Outstanding Achievement in Rare‑Disease Researcher Award at the 2026 Fifth MENA Congress for Rare Diseases held in Abu‑Dhabi. As Associate Professor and director of Abu Dhabi University Cancer Research Institute, she was honoured at the three‑day event focused on rare‑disease science and treatment. LASA congratulates Dr Raza on her achievement.
